Ron was a research engineer at McDonnell Douglas in 1964 before becoming head of the development testing group in 1967, supervisor of thermochemical simulation facilities in 1969, and research scientist in 1972. He went to Sverdrup in 1977 to be a group leader in the mechanical section, and then became section manager in 1979. This led to him becoming manager of special projects, major project director, and vice president and deputy division manager. His final project was a long-term assignment at Lockheed Martin Skunk Works in Palmdale, Calif., as program director for the RLV/X-33 Launch Facilities Design and Construction. Ron retired in July 2004 and did some consulting work afterward.
