Upon graduation from UMR in 1970, Ron moved to Rochester, New York, to begin his career as a manufacturing engineer in the Quality Control department of Xerox Corporation. In 1977 Ron moved back to St. Louis to work for Consolidated Aluminum, starting as a manager of financial analysis and ending as a manager of strategic planning. With a one-year experience in Essen, Germany, as an assistant plant manager of an Allusuise Aluminum Smelter; and a one-year assignment as manager of materials at an aluminum smelter in New Johnsonville, TN, Ron joined Storz Instrument Company (later acquired by Bausch & Lomb) in 1986 as a director of manufacturing; eventually moving to the director, materials for global operations. Ron joined Lindenwood University, St. Charles, MO, in May 2001, as an assistant professor, teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in management and human resources. 

Ron had been an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America since 1982 and had been a holder of elected positions in the city of Weldon Spring, MO, since 1984.
