Bob started his professional career at Ford Motor Company in product development. He joined Borg Warner Automotive Corporation, where he served as vice president of engineering and introduced a stream of new automotive powertrain products. As business unit manager of Four Wheel Drive Systems, he was responsible for creating and launching the "Focused Factory," a highly successful manufacturing concept. Later, as vice president of marketing and sales, he helped to create international joint venture companies in China and India. In 1995, Bob left to form his own company, Synergen, commercializing a new concept in automotive air conditioning expansion valves. He served as president of the Detroit section of the MSM/UMR Alumni Association and as an Alumni Association board member. He had been a member of SAE since he was a student and served as a member of the Technical Standard Board.
