Upon graduating from UMR, Nick began his career with Shell Research and Development in Houston, Texas as a research engineer. He then taught at Tri-State College (now Trine University) a small engineering school in Angola, Indiana. He left Tri-State to join International Harvester (now Navistar International Corporation) as a senior development engineer where he progressed to senior director of engineering. Then he joined Case Corporation in Racine, Wisconsin as director in charge of product development and construction equipment engineering. 

He then joined Zenith Electronics as vice president and CTO for consumer electronics from where he retired. Upon retirement, Nick has been teaching at Purdue University, Fort Wayne since 2011. 

Nick’s wife Willa Walker also graduated from UMR in 1967 with an MS in computer science.

Nick and Willa live in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They have one son, Rajesh, who is a consumer business analyst for Frontier Communications.
