Gerald began his utility career as a gas engineer at City Utilities in 1977. As Chief Operating Officer, he was responsible for the daily operations of the electric, natural gas, water and transportation systems. Following early retirement from City Utilities in 2005, Gerry helped charter the non-profit American Public Gas Association Security and Integrity Foundation (SIF). The SIF provide regulatory training and resources to small utilities in the natural gas industry. Gerry currently serves as the Program Manager. He served as President of the American Public Gas Association in 1998 and has been a member of the board of directors since 1991. APGA honored him with the Personal Achievement Award in 1996, and the Distinguished Service Award in 1998. He was Chairman of the Midwest Energy Association Board of Directors in 1998. Gas Utility & Pipeline Industries magazine named him one of its "Outstanding Gas Managers" in 1998. He has been chair of the Board of Directors for the Discovery Center and Springfield Area Sports Hall of Fame. He is also active in the Rotary Club of Springfield Southeast. He is currently on the Board of Education for Springfield Public Schools, President of the Missouri School Board Association and Missouri Securities Investment Program. He is a graduate of Leadership Springfield and Leadership Missouri.
