Gene began his career at Emerson Electric and joined Watlow Electric as application engineer in 1969. At Watlow, he later held positions of marketing manager; vice president—sales and marketing; vice president—division general manager; and senior vice president responsible for global marketing, research, and development and Asian operations. In January 2000 Gene purchased TAPCO, a provider of factory automation solutions, which is headquartered in Cincinnati and has offices in all major cities in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. TAPCO was merged with MQ Automation in December 2010 and Gene continues to provide consulting services to MQ Automation. In 2005, Gene founded Performance Automation, a Machine Vision Automation Solution Integrator. He is an emeritus member of St. Louis Priory Advisors, former board member of St. Louis University Institute of International Business and former chairman of AAIM Management Association. Gene is former Chairman and a board member of the Employers Resource Association.
