Upon graduation in 1962, Gary’s first employment was with the Bureau of Reclamation. He then served in the U.S. Army flying night reconnaissance missions in South Vietnam. Following his Vietnam tour, he worked with McDonnell Douglas as a flight-test engineer on the F-4, F-15, and F-18 Aircraft. Gary joined NASA in 1979 working at the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center in Edwards, California. While at Dryden, he held numerous project manager positions being responsible for flight development or flight research on production or experimental air vehicles. Gary retired from Dryden in 2001 and still is active in general aviation.

A native of Jefferson City, Mo., Gary and and wife, Concha, currently live in Grove, Oklahoma. Gary was recently elected to the Grove City Council and is Vice-Mayor and Mayor of Grove. He also held the Chairman positions of the Grove Airport Trust and the Grove Health-car Trust. The Health-care Trust assisted the Integris Corporation in the building of a 58 Million Dollar Hospital in Grove which opened in 2010.
