Andy joined General Motors upon graduation at GM’s Delco Production Division in Dayton, Ohio as a Production Supervisor.  He then transferred to GM’s Allison Transmission Division in Indianapolis in 1988.  While at Allision he worked in the Military Products group where he held positions in tracked vehicle automatic transmission Production Engineering, R&D, Design, Product Engineering, Controls Design and Calibration.  During 2003, Andy transferred to GM’s Powertrain Division at the Milford Proving Ground.  He had assignments calibrating RWD transmissions and the development of standardized calibration processes. His most recent assignments are managing engineering groups responsible for transmission calibration on dynamometers, and FWD, CVT, DCT and Manual Transmission development.  Andy is also a recruiter for GM that focuses on talent from SAE’s Collegiate Design Series. 

Andy is also involved with both the local SAE section and SAE international.  He served both the Indiana Section and Detroit Section as Chair.  His SAE International activities included:  Sections Board (Chair), Finance Committee, Publications Committee, and a Trustee on the Retirement Investment Program.  In addition, he served on the SAE Board of Directors from 2006-2008.  Starting in January, he will serve again on the Board of Directors as Treasurer for 2020-2023.

While at UMR, Andy was a member of the Varsity Football team (1981-1984); a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity (Treas., Pres.) and Theta Tau Omega fraternity (Sec., Pres.).

Andy and his wife Mary Ann (BS EE 1986, UMR; MSE 1993 Purdue) live in Clarkston, Michigan.  Mary Ann also works at GM as the EGM for Fuel Cell Hardware Integration.  They have two grown daughters, Molly and Helen.  Molly (BS BME, NCState, MS P&O, Georgia Tech) is currently a Resident at the Orlando VA in the Prosthetics & Orthotics department.  Helen (BS BioChem, MSU) works as a Research Assistant at the Charles River test laboratory in Mattawan, Mi.
