After graduation from MSM, Alan started his engineering career with North American Aviation in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  That is where he met and married Jean.  They moved to Denver Colorado where Alan worked for Martin Marietta, later moving to Boeing in Wichita, Kansas.  After chasing contracts in the space program Alan moved on to Springday Company in Springfield, MO.  Next stop was Tamko Asphalt Products in Joplin, MO.  Rose from project engineer to General manager with Tamko. Moved to Little Rock, AR with Masonite Company, then to Southern Illinois University where he taught Industrial Technology Courses for 21 years in their off campus program. 

Alan is native to Southern Illinois.  Alan and Jean have 3 boys.  Chris is an auto mechanic living in New Zealand.  Matthew is an Air Force Academy graduate currently working for Northrup Grumman Aerospace.  Mark is an art teacher and soccer coach with Belleville, IL East High School.

Alan is currently serving on the Board of Directors of Life Network of Southwestern Illinois.  He teaches a weekly Bible study, an avid golfer, and continues teaching as an adjunct instructor for McKendree University.
