Sathiya started his career in academics (1987-99) – first at the Indian Institute of Science and then at the National University of Singapore. Since then, he has worked as a researcher in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in various companies – Yahoo!, Microsoft, and Criteo. Currently, Sathiya is a principal researcher at LinkedIn, Sunnyvale, OH.

Sathiya and his wife Geetha are residents of Morgan Hill, CA.  Geetha is a Homemaker and an avid gardener.  They have 2 children. Svadharma is a doctor with expertise in emergency medicine who works at the Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA. Ramana is a senior software engineer who works with the logistics group of Amazon in Seattle, WA.

Sathiya has published more than 100 papers in leading journals and conferences. He has been an Action Editor of JMLR (Journal of Machine Learning Research) since 2008, and previously he was an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering.
