Mr. Navarro retired from the Boeing Company in 2006 after 42 years; his terminal assignment was as Director of Information and Corporate Business Systems Architect. Since retirement, Navarro joined the faculty of the University of Missouri - Saint Louis. He was a lecturer in the Information Systems and Logistics and Logistics Operations Management areas and an Executive Fellow of the University of Missouri - Saint Louis Executive Leadership Consortium. He taught courses in the areas of Business Process Development, Management and Integration, Project Management, Electronic Commerce, and International Logistics. He spent the spring semester 2009 as a Visiting Professor of Information Management at the Huazhong University in Wuhan, China.
Dick's career began at McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing, in 1964. He began his varied career in ground support equipment engineering and then advanced to the director level with assignments of increasing responsibility in avionics aerospace support, avionics engineering, software engineering, and information technology. He was assigned as director of product definition systems. Dick received the AIAA St. Louis Section Young Professional Engineer Award. He published articles in the AIAA Journal of Aircraft and in the Journal of the Annual Simulation Symposium. He had been both a speaker and session chairman at the AIAA/IEEE AUTOTESTCON. He was an associate fellow of the AIAA, served on the AIAA Software Systems Technical Committee, and was an invited speaker at the Defense Systems Management College. Dick served as a career ambassador for UMR.
