Randy grew up on a farm and is the son of Omer and Shirley Frank.  Of their four children, three achieved ME Degrees at Missouri S&T (Scott, Randy and Steve) and one a Master in PT (Anne) at Missouri - Columbia.  Upon graduating from Missouri S&T, Randy began his career with Ford Motor Company in the Ford College Graduate Program (FCG).  After the FCG Program, Randy attended the University of Michigan on the Ford Fellowship program to obtain a Masters Degree in Engineering Management.  He developed through many positions in Body Engineering and CAE.  During his career he has focused on utilizing "Lean Principles" and CAE to produce innovative product designs.  This style and approach grew from strong influences from other MAE members John Shelton and Nand Kochhar.  Also a critical influence during Ford's Product Driven revitalization has been Dr. Jim Morgan.  During this timeframe, Randy has taken many products from clean sheet of paper to launch, incorporating many new technologies to the industry including:  Laser stitch welding doors, Mg Liftgate inner panels, Integrated Spotter mirrors, High Energy Door Checks, AL Closure panels, Door efforts/Windnoise design health charts, hidden rocker Architecture and ultra high strength steel platform constructions. Through all the years Randy has maintained ties with Missouri S&T in recruiting, research and other donations through Ford.
