Scott's entire corporate career has been with Ford Motor Company, where he began with duties as a product engineer in the Electronic Engine Controls and Chassis Engineering area. He has since held many progressively responsible positions at Ford, including principal engineer, Service Engineering and Luxury Car Development, quality manager, Engine Systems and Product Design Quality, and design manager for 3.0L and Special Engine System Design. In 1992, he was named an executive engineer, I4 and V6 Engine Engineering and later became program manager for Truck Powertrain Systems, before assuming his final position. He was chairman of the UMR Ford Corporate Annual Giving Campaign in 1995, and received the MSM/UMR Alumni Service Award in 1996.
