Upon graduating from UMR, Mike began his career with GE, where he progressed from manufacturing engineer to Director of Supply Chain. After GE, from 2001 to the present, Mike served as the VP and Global Head of Supply Chain for iconic American Corporations: Stanley Tools, Remington Firearms & Ammo, Gibson Guitars, FLIR systems, and currently as the VP of Supply Chain for Trinity Rail Industries. Living and working globally in Hong Kong and Mexico in addition to various domestic locations with his wife Cindy and daughter Jaclyn. Mike was born Shin Esu in Seoul, South Korea. In 1972, he immigrated to Rolla with his mother, Judy, and older sister, Mary. His mom, Judy, successfully owned two restaurants in Rolla: Judy’s Home Cooking and the Oriental Palace. His sister Mary graduated from Mizzou.
Mike enjoys golf and exercising with his trusted German Shepherd named Indie. He is an avid professional sports fan, especially the Washington Redskins and STL Cardinals. Mike loves movies, music, horses, hunting, fishing, martial arts, and playing his saxophones.
In 2011, Mike repurposed and committed his remaining life journey to serve God as written in the Holy Bible and the Gospels. The Father Almighty and the Holy Son are the center of Mike’s purpose and existence. Mike’s vision is to retire from business and settle on a farm in Phelps County. Mike started a software company where he will serve as Founder and Chairman while contributing to the Rolla community. He plans to support Missouri S&T, RHS Rolla High School, and Newburg School District. His goal is to create manufacturing and technology jobs in Phelps County by leveraging the talent and intellectual strength of Missouri S&T. Mike’s motivation is to give back to Rolla, Newburg, and Doolittle, that gave him the American dream. Most importantly, it was this community that guided Mike to discover God.
