About Lisa J. Sombart, P.E.

BSME 1984, University of Missouri – Rolla

Lisa was the Principal and St. Louis Team Leader at Mazzetti/William Tao & Associates, Inc., a multi-discipline consulting engineering firm. Her career began at the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Division of Energy as a program engineer. She joined William Tao & Associates, Inc. (WTA) in 1987 as an energy analyst and specialist in controls and instrumentation. Working in the earliest stages of sustainable design, Lisa started the commissioning services division and managed projects for pharmaceutical laboratories, data centers, and other systems-intensive building projects across the United States and in Taiwan. Her comprehensive understanding of whole building design, construction, and operations led her to becoming President of WTA in 2014. While working, Lisa was licensed in twenty-five states and maintained active membership in ISPE, ASHRAE, USGBC, SEMA, and SAVE.

Lisa retired after a fulfilling career in consulting engineering to follow her passions of spending time with and caring for family, volunteering construction expertise for worthy organizations, and enjoying life to its fullest. She and her husband, Kevin, have traveled extensively throughout the United States, eastern Europe, and Mexico and plan on more trips in the future. Lisa spends time caring for her mother, who inspired her to study engineering, and having fun with her two grandsons as much as possible.

She is a board member of Lutheran Senior Services, a participant in a Concordia-Kirkwood Church Building Committee, and former president of the AMAE and currently serves on the Past Presidents, Membership, and Special Events Committees. She also served as the UMR Zeta Tau Alpha Chapter as a Local Housing Corporation chairperson.
