John joined Ford Motor Company immediately upon graduation from UMR in May 1971 as a product engineer. His initial assignments were instrument panels and interior systems. He later held a variety of management positions responsible for the design of body structures, exterior sheet metal, and safety engineering. In 1994, he was named Chief Body Engineer, Advanced Vehicle Technology. In 1995, he became the Chief Vehicle and Chassis Engineer for Ford’s truck engineering division. In 2000, John joined the Ford Asia Pacific operation as Vice President of Product Development, Ford of Australia. Upon his returned to the U.S. in August 2002, he was appointed Director of Product Development, overseeing all design and engineering in the Asia and South Africa Regions. He retired from this position in January, 2007.
John has been a Ford college recruiter at UMR since 1986, participating in Industry Day and SAE chapter activities over the years.
