After serving in the U.S. Army, Jim spent eight years with Alcoa and seven with RCA. Later, he joined the National Semiconductor Corporation as Product Reliability Manager. His first venture into the medical product development and manufacturing industry was as General Manager of American Latex Corporation, Sullivan, Indiana. In 1977, he founded his first medical manufacturing company, Vance Products, Inc. Two other companies, Van-Tec Inc. and Medical Polymers, Inc., were created between 1981 and 1988. In 1988, CCA, a medical clinic in Arizona, was formed. Jim is currently active in his present company, JFV Associates, located in Spencer, Indiana. In 1994, the University of Missouri-Rolla honored Jim as an outstanding entrepreneur.
