Jim graduated from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in May 1956 and started in June of that year with the Babcock and Wilcox Company, which has been a global energy company since its inception in 1867. During his career with them, he has had many international assignments starting with a year in Mega, Japan, starting up a major steam electrical generation plant. He also had short assignments in South America, Asia, Europe, and Russia.
His work was both technical and business oriented. Early in his career, he helped start bypass systems for the new “once through” steam generators. This culminated with a redesign of the troublesome by-pass system with a design that is still used today. His 42-year career with Babcock and Wilcox Company culminated as General Manager Sales and Service - Midwest.
