After graduating from UMR, Gary joined Ethyl Corporation where he worked on several development programs related to the plastics industry. He applied his education to produce innovative machine designs, for which he was granted several patents. By the early 1980’s, he was managing the Ethyl Corporation (now Albemarle Corporation) major capital projects program. This resulted in overseas assignments designing and constructing Specialty Chemical Facilities. Gary, along with Sharra and their two daughters, Mary Ann and Eleanor, lived in Europe during some of these assignments. More recently Gary was in the Middle East where he was working on a project near the Dead Sea.
For nearly 30 years of his career, Gary returned to Rolla each Fall recruiting, trying to entice other young ME’s to join him in all the fun! It was also enjoyable to spend a little time with some of his professor friends.
