Gene began his career at Olin as a sales trainee in the Fabricated Products Division. He advanced through various marketing positions including marketing engineer, contract administrator, and customer service manager. In 1977 he became southwest regional sales manager for all Olin Brass Products. In 1979, Gene moved to marketing manager, Somers Thin Strip Division in Waterbury, Connecticut. He returned to Olin Brass headquarters in 1983 as director of marketing engineering and later moved to his final position as director, international marketing. Gene retired in 2002 and now enjoys volunteer work with the Wednesday crew at St. Louis Habitat for Humanity and is actively involved in the lay leadership of Salem-in-Ladue Methodist Church.
