BSME 1962, MSM
MSME 1965, UMR
After graduating from MSM, Gene went to work for Ford Motor Company and stayed with them for 34 years. Gene’s first assignment was in NVH development, where he spent time working on the first Mustangs and Cougars as an NVH engineer. After several management positions in Body and Chassis Product Development, Gene was assigned to the Environmental and Safety Engineering staff. He had management assignments in Safety Planning, Auditing, Assembly Systems, Manufacturing Systems, and in-depth Vehicle Safety and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) reviews. This background led to his last position as manager of Core Safety Assurance. Gene was a member of SAE and is a life member of MSPE, NSPE, and several regional chapters of the Professional Engineers since his registration in 1967. He joined several honor societies during his education at MSM (Pi Tau Sigma, Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi). Gene also served a three-year term as a director in the MSM/UMR Alumni Association in the early 70s. He served his community as a member of the Dearborn Heights Zoning Board of Appeals for nine years.
Gene had four daughters, all married and living in nearby communities. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, movies, antiquing, and especially their nine grandchildren. Barbara fought late-stage breast cancer for two years and died on May 10, 2005. Gene moved to an active adult retirement community in Michigan in December 2006.
