Dennis started his career at the Ford Engineering Center in Dearborn, Mich. in 1966 with responsibilities in vehicle and component testing.He moved to Centralia, Mo. where he was employed by the A.B. Chance Company for 34 years before his retirement in March of 2002.His career with Chance started in product design and testing with varying assignments in several product areas. In mid-1976 a career change allowed a move to manufacturing with a dual role in design and manufacturing of a new electrical switchgear product line. Various duties followed in the progression to operations manager.In 1988, Dennis returned to Product Engineering as Vice President and was later promoted to Vice President of Operations with responsibility for the Centralia Operation as well as other satellite plants.After purchase of the company by the Hubbell Corporation, he was promoted to the position of Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering for the Hubbell Powers Systems group and directed engineering projects in multiple locations in the U.S. and Mexico. The last five years of his Chance career included the planning and building and relocating of a new plant in Mexico. Since his retirement he has been active in Haubein & McDowell, Inc., a small residential and commercial construction business started in 1992.
