About Charles E. "Ed" Schmidt, Jr.

After graduation Ed served as a pilot in the U.S. Army-including a tour in Vietnam in 1969. Ed co-founded Baron Aviation in 1973. He has served as President and Director of Operations of Baron Aviation from 1973 to present. Fed-Ex has been Baron Aviation's primary customer for over 25 years. Baron currently operates a fleet of 39 air freighters throughout the Midwest on behalf of Fed-Ex. Ed serves as a local advisor to Kappa Alpha Fraternity, of which he has been a member since 1961. He is a past president and member of the board of directors of the Student's Education and Loan Foundation, a member of the OGS since 1988, and an Honorary Knight of St. Patrick. Ed is also on the board of directors for Rolla Community Development Corporation and the Rolla National Airport Board.
